Fresh Counter Assistant
Are you passionate about quality food, great customer service, and working in a friendly, down-to-earth environment? At The Lambing Shed Farm Shop in Cheshire, we’re looking for an enthusiastic and confident Counter Assistant to join our busy butchery team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the heart of a thriving, family-run farm shop, where you’ll be surrounded by high-quality, locally sourced produce and a supportive team.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Supporting the day-to-day running of our bustling butchery counter
- Delivering warm, knowledgeable, and attentive customer service
- Preparing fresh meat products, including sausages, burgers, and other speciality items
- Packing and labelling products with care and accuracy
- Making delicious pastry goods such as sausage rolls and pork pies
- Maintaining excellent cleanliness and food hygiene standards at all times
What We’re Looking For:
- A positive, friendly attitude and a passion for working with people
- Someone who can work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual, and ready to get involved
- A keen eye for detail and pride in presentation
- Previous experience in hospitality, food prep, kitchen, or deli work is desirable (but not essential, we’re happy to train the right person!)

Chef/Kitchen Assistant - Fresh Local Produce, Daytime Hours
About Us
At The Lambing Shed, we’re passionate about serving fresh, locally sourced food in the heart of the Cheshire countryside. Based on our working farm, we take pride in creating dishes that showcase the very best of our region, with beef and lamb reared onsite and prepared through our own butchery.
As a family-run business, we’re entering an exciting phase of growth, with a restaurant expansion and brand-new kitchen opening later this year. We’re now looking for a talented Chef to join our team and be part of this next chapter.
The Role
You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality, seasonal dishes using the best ingredients from our farm and trusted local suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook dishes using fresh, locally sourced ingredients
- Support the creation of seasonal specials and menu development
- Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
- Work closely with the team to ensure smooth daily service
- Assist with stock control and reducing food waste
- Support the preparation of homemade farm shop produce, including pies and other items
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as a chef or cook (farm shop, café, or restaurant preferred)
- A genuine passion for fresh, seasonal food
- A positive, hardworking, team-focused attitude
- Ability to stay organised and work efficiently during busy periods
- Flexible availability, including weekends
- Food hygiene certification (or willingness to obtain)
